Eastern Plains

Eastern-Plains

We have been fortunate to acquire over 160,000 acres of prime deer, pronghorn and turkey country on the Eastern plains of Colorado. These private land hunts take place in GMU # 99, 104, 105, 106 and 110. This prime country allows us to offer trophy deer (mule deer & whitetail), pronghorn and spring turkey hunts on the eastern plains for archery, muzzleloader and rifle hunters. These areas have historically proven to be among the best in Colorado for producing trophy animals. The eastern plains hunts are our most popular for trophy deer and subsequently book up well in advance. Some of these deer hunts can be combined with pronghorn and elk depending on the season you choose to hunt. Our eastern plains lodging is a ranch style house that is very comfortable with hot showers, electricity, satellite television and some terrific home cooked meals.

We manage these properties for both trophy class animals and a quality hunting experience. Historically these ranches have produced very high opportunity and harvest on mule deer in the 170-190 class and whitetails grossing around 140 or better. We put a great amount of emphasis on age structure of our deer and therefore make every attempt to harvest 5 ½ year olds or older. Our pronghorn bucks average around 14 inches with opportunities to harvest larger ones. All deer licenses/tags are issued on a draw basis requiring 0-1 preference points for archery, muzzleloader and 1st rifle, therefore providing a good opportunity to draw your licenses. The late deer season rut hunts require 3-4 preference points. All rifle pronghorn licenses/tags are issued on a draw basis and require 3-4 preference points while all archery pronghorn are available over the counter. All spring turkey licenses/tags are available over the counter. We do have a limited number of landowner vouchers available for all of our hunts. We do submit all draw applications for our clients to ensure that the best opportunity is provided for them.

Our ranches provide some of the best habitat for growing trophy deer. Our ranches consist mostly of cottonwood creek/river bottoms, rim-rock ridges, ponderosa pines and some prairie country. If you are not one to sit still long, we can always try our luck at spot and stalk hunting during the day. Just remember, the idea here is to keep our trophy deer in the area. Most of our rifle hunts are spot and stalk, although we may do some stand hunting if conditions are right.
